D is for: Do It With Style

Women’s fashions and design are ever-changing revolving aspects in life. Are you prepared to do it with style?

Every season, the runway styles dictate what is fashionable, popular and on trend. Are you ready for Spring and ready to be part of the seasonal changes?

What is going to be hot fashion topics for Spring 2015?

How might a jewelry designer interpret or work with these trends? Allow me to share the ways that I have tackled the challenge of the trends predicted so far.

Fringe- Easy way to make a statement with a Western/Santa Fe style.

There is no doubt that fringe adds fun to fashion. It is dramatic, shows movement, and has a sense of flow and carefree whimsy. How might you find this trend in Club Creative Studio jewelry art?  Here is an example of jewelry art I have created with beaded fringe detail.  It is a hand-made beaded statement necklace. The color palate I use may also reflect the feel of the Southwest.

Suede-A trend that can come in different colors.

I enjoy that suede can be utilized in many ways because of the width cut variations available.  I like adding a simple suede strand to my colorful hand-rolled clay pendant creations because the colors coordinate without being distracting.  It is a change of pace from wearing a common metal chain necklace. The over-all look is also casual and relaxed for any age.

The 70’s are back- it’s a more polished version.

I love that the 70’s were about free-flowing blouse styles and fun fabric prints. As Club Creative Studio creates hand-made items with a Boho feel, this trend in style will seem more evident, creative and comfortable, like these examples do.

Ruffles-Structural and sweet at the same time.

Ruffled materials do not have to bring back bad memories like it does for me. I recall my Mother sewing a ruffle at the bottom of my jean pant legs as I grew to extend the length of the pants, and their wear time. Just when I thought that was bad enough…she would go and add a second and third layer of ruffles. Lord, I wish I had a photo of me wearing those pants right now.

Ruffles can add a look of innocence and boldness at the same time. Club Creative Studio has carried forth this trend in designing a ruffled edge incorporated with added bead embellishments.  This necklace is a great example of how a ruffle-look can be a structural strength to a fashion statement necklace.

Club Creative Studio’s signature designs have a distinct love of color and design flair, but don’t hesitate to use the word “elegant” to also describe designs as well.

Boho Beauty- Celebrate Color

Club Creative Studio Boho pendant

The best thing about female fashion is that trends can and are revisited often depending on your comfort and personal style.  Today,  Club Creative Studio celebrates the color and ease of the Boho beauty expressed in our hand-made jewelry art items.

Boho-chic is a style that is a combination of Bohemian and hippie influences.

Boho is all about looking individual (which is a belief Club Creative Studio is a big fan of) and mixing in a natural component. Earthy tones are common, with splashes of colors like orange, green, and magenta.

The best and most important theme of the Boho chic style is idea of Boho chic is that it embraces loving and wearing “accessories galore”.  To clarify this does not mean that you wear everything that you own rather incorporate plenty of bracelets, ankle bracelets, mix-and-match necklaces, and dangling earrings.

It doesn’t stop with jewelry, however, include headbands, hair barrettes, belts, hats and purses. Just make sure they’re a noticeable part of your wardrobe inspired by nature and with color splashes.

The boho style is comfortable and forgiving. how will you express this look this week?

Welcome to the blog at Club Creative Studio. If you are new here, Friday is typically reserved for a post called: “Feature Friday”.  I happily highlight what I am working on or a recent project on Friday.

Club Creative Studio- Soldered Art

I have a new love for soldering and I have been busy creating and building up an inventory with this medium as a focus.  I have soldered a bit in the past however, I have never taken this art to this extreme, creating several successful hand-made pendants.

Club Creative Studio- Soldered Sea Theme

The recent creations have been placed as a new category on the website under Soldered Art.  Also,  many items created with a sea theme will be available in a venue in New Jersey along the shore.

Admire and Inspire: Buds Buy Beads

Here’s a TNT (This-N-That) Club Creative Studio riddle for you.

Question: What do you get when you place two jewelry makers with different design styles together in the same bead store for a few hours?

Answer: A few long receipts!

Small package, long reciept.
Small package, long receipt.

Welcome to the Club Creative Studio blog where the focus is on CREATIVITY.

I recently blogged about a small bead shop that was closing its doors for public business. I learned that after eight years, the owners wanted to start reclaiming their lives and go fishing and enjoy and be near their grandchildren more often.  One can hardly argue with that! It takes dedication and many hours run a brick and mortar storefront and I totally understand their desire for a change of pace.  It will be a loss to many bead fans and jewelry-makers to no longer have the store in their neighborhood. In their final days of their close-out, they offered a great opportunity for customers to purchase their remaining tiny treasures at deeply discounted prices. I hit the bead store scene with a new bud to buy beads and we enjoyed our productive day.

I had a great time talking the “language of jewelry-making” with a fellow jewelry maker and friend: Anna Servati of Anna’s Jewelry Designs. We first met at a networking event and quickly started speaking our native language BEADS.  It is always a thrill for me to be able to meet or maintain a working relationship with someone who has similar passions and high levels of creativity.  We have very different design styles yet, we can still appreciate the same beads and techniques in the jewelry-making world. I suggested that when we both got home, we needed to photograph our “bead stash” from today. Here is Anna’s stash. She loves gem stones, and added some unique clasps to her collection.

This is Anna's stash.
This is Anna’s stash.

While shopping, we  had moments where we both admired the same beads even though we may have bought totally different beads in the end. We did agree to both purchase one bead alike, however.  This will be the bead that we will both use in one of our individual projects to see how each of us will create with it.

How fun is that?

This is the special bead we each bought to use in our own separate creations.
This is the special bead we each bought to use in our own separate creations.

I wanted to use the photos to illustrate in this blog how two people can shop differently with their own personal art styles in mind, and let you see what caught our eyes long enough to want to purchase.  My hope is to have you admire the collections and be inspired to do something creative. You don’t have to be a jewelry-designer to use  or love beads, stones, charms or wire!  This is my stash from the shopping adventure.  You know I am always on the hunt for the unusual finding so leave it up to me to find the charms shaped like hands right off the bat as I entered the door! Some things just scream Club Creative Studio.

The best take-away aspect that I realized yesterday while spending time with my friend was that while we had our little conversations in between our glazed over eyes in auto pilot shopping mode, we spent some quality time doing what I love to do…admire and inspire.  The shopping spree also brought another aspect to the forefront of my mind. I feel that it is important to have at least one person that you can trust to have a listening ear near or word of honest advice when you need an opinion.

I have many different “go-to” pals who are very knowledgeable in specific areas that are willing to share and have a give-and-take conversation. If you don’t have people in your life-like that, I suggest finding a few because there is nothing better than having the opportunity to bounce off ideas and get feedback from a variety of people.

Wired Up

Are you motivated to become creative today?

I am all “wired up’ as I experiment in the work place of Club Creative Studio.  As I try new techniques in wire-wrapping I have run into trials and tribulations.  This is what I love about the creative process…the learning process.  Success in art means to be brave to start from an idea, remain open-minded to continue the project and then hopefully become pleased in the final product.

This is what is at the heart of exploring creativity.  Today in this short post, I share with you the results of the recent stone, wire and crystal art pendants I am experimenting with.

>I Make it, You Love It, You Wear It

> This is a great example of a necklace made from Club Creative Studio that would look gorgeous with a lacy, white top for instance. Because it is dotted with a splash of colorful beads and sparkle sequins, it gives punch to a simple over-all look.

Wearing “theme jewelry” (as pictured below) gives one a festive and purposeful feeling to their fashion statement. Here, there is no question in your mind that the person wearing this appreciates ocean critters and they want you to know that!

To accent a top like a flowing tunic, there is a matching style that seems to compliment very well; anything with length.
When you look at jewelry, you get an instant reaction. Most of the time you decide right away if something fits your taste or does not. When I created this piece, I should have noted my personal mood. To me, this is reflective of a playful style and feel. It would look great wearing something casual, funky and fun with a go-with -the-flow evoked feeling.
A big-bead necklace may add an extra dose of color to a patterned wrap top. The accent color often blends with a pattern even it it is a “busy look” in your mind. The chunk-style necklace is always fun to wear because it shows a bit of boldness.

There are many opinions in the fashion world. We all draw upon what the experts suggest on the run-way and from what we end up seeing in the department stores we frequent. The fact remains that we buy what we LOVE. Generally speaking, we LOVE what is comfortable and eye-pleasing. Use the few ideas I mentioned with each of our photo examples. You will allow yourself to test if a certain style works for you, and agrees with your own personal taste in wearing or sharing our jewelry.

Thank you for wearing and sharing our Art That Sets You Apart!
